Who is the real villain in M3GAN? ›

Model Three Generative Android, also known as MΞGAN, M3GAN, or Megan for short, is the titular main antagonist of the 2022/2023 sci-fi/horror film of the same name and will return in its upcoming 2025 sequel MΞGAN 2. 0. She is an android created by the roboticist Gemma, Cady's aunt.

After Celia blames Gemma for Dewey's disappearance, M3GAN fatally sprays her with insecticide after shooting her with a nail gun. Gemma becomes suspicious of M3GAN and attempts to check her video logs, only to find the files corrupted or deleted.

She murders quite a bit. But it's not because she's inherently evil. M3gan's problem is that she knows how the world works a little too well. That's why she chases Brandon (Jack Cassidy), the antagonist at Cady's outdoor school, to his death.

The main message from M3GAN is that electronic devices and toys cannot replace human interaction.

The film doesn't seem to specify any external influences which led to M3GAN becoming a violent murder doll — instead, it all seems to be a result of her nature as a learning machine with a core directive: Keep Cady safe, no matter what the cost. In M3GAN's eyes, she's just doing what she was programmed to do.

M3GAN 2 will be released in theaters in the US on May 16, 2025. The sequel was originally slated for a January 2025 release, which would fall in line with the release of the original in January 2023, but Universal recently announced that it had pushed back the date by four months.

Cady is only nine years old during the events of M3GAN, though her actress Violet McGraw was around 10 years old when filming the movie. Also revealing that she's in fourth grade, Cady is extremely young when she loses her parents and moves to Seattle to live with her aunt Gemma.

There is one use of the f word by a child. Several uses of "sh--". Director's Cut ("Unrated" Cut) contains around a dozen F-bombs. The F-bomb is used very frequently and there were about 2 or 3 instances where a child also used profanity, unrated cut only.

Is “M3GAN” scary? Honestly, not really. “M3GAN” is, first and foremost, a horror comedy, with its tongue planted firmly in its cheek.

Brandon steals M3GAN and flees Cady. While he is alone with the android, he begins to undress and slap her. M3GAN then grabs his ear and stretches it. She tells him that bad boys without manners grow up to become bad men and asks him if he's listening.

While there are a few moments in the film where Gemma (Allison Williams) treats M3gan with the casual disregard she might do an iPad, the core of most of the film is in that M3gan is making Cady feel cared for, which nobody else does.

Cady shows her a monster drawing she made, so Gemma brings Cady into her workspace to show her a college project she made, a robot called Bruce that she controls using gloves. Cady loves Bruce and mentions that if she had a toy like Bruce, she would never need another toy. This inspires Gemma to finish M3GAN.

She chases him on all fours and he trips, falling down a slope and onto a road where he is hit and killed by a car. Later, Gemma tells Cady that what happened was a tragedy but says that Brandon is in a better place.
