Can you inject Dupixent wrong? ›

Do not inject Dupixent into skin that is damaged or already tender, because this can cause you to feel more pain in this area. Also avoid areas that have bruises or scars.

This medicine may cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, generalized urticaria, angioedema, or serum sickness, which can be life-threatening and require immediate medical attention.

For eczema in adults and adolescents, Dupixent (generic name: dupilumab) can start to work as quickly as 2 to 4 weeks to relieve itching and in 16 weeks for a clear or almost clear skin improvement, including skin and itch improvement at 16 weeks for patients with uncontrolled eczema of the hand and / or foot.

Throw away (dispose of) any DUPIXENT Syringes that have been left at room temperature for longer than 14 days. You can inject into your thigh or stomach, except for the 2 inches (5 cm) around your belly button (navel).

If your dose schedule is every other week and you miss a dose of DUPIXENT: Give the DUPIXENT injection within 7 days from the missed dose, then continue with your original schedule.

Nearly 10 times as many patients receiving Dupixent achieved histological disease remission: 59% of patients achieved histological disease remission compared to 6% of patients receiving placebo (p<0.0001); mean baseline peak levels were 89 and 84 eos/hpf, respectively.

However, it may take a few weeks before you notice an improvement in symptoms. You should continue treatment for at least 16 weeks to determine whether Dupixent works for you. If your symptoms haven't improved after 16 weeks, talk with your doctor.

Lightly press a cotton ball or gauze on the injection site if you see any blood. You can also cover the site with a bandage. If the bleeding doesn't stop, contact your healthcare provider.

Always choose a different site each time you inject DUPIXENT. If you're not comfortable with giving an injection to someone, you could always ask your child's school nurse to help out.

Pinch a fold of skin at the injection site (thigh or stomach, except 2 inches around your belly button, or outer area of the upper arm if injected by your caregiver). Insert the needle completely into the fold of the skin at about a 45° angle (see illustration). Relax the pinch.
