Cherry Lovers Rejoice!

I happen to LOVE the flavor of cherry. When I was a little girl, my dad would gift me a box of chocolate covered cherries every year for Christmas. It’s one of my fondest memories and I can’t look at a box of those chocolates without smiling.

I’m not sure if you’ve ever had a Cherry Mash, but if you love cherry flavor, you’re missing out. But not any more because you can make them at home.

From the taste to the he exact electric pink color that is the center of these amazing candies, I’d like to say I nailed it 100%

When I was younger, I use to babysit the kids across the street. When it was Christmas time their mother would bring over cherry bing bars and they were my favorite thing in the World!

I’ve seen them called Cherry Bing Bars, Bing Candy, Twin Bing and Cherry Mash. I was a little at lost as to what to call these but I landed on Cherry Mash Truffles.

Fast forward to a few years ago and I messaged one of the kids I use to babysit for and she sent me the recipe her mother always use to make.

A quick Google search and an entire case of cherry chips later, I was in the kitchen making those delicious cherry bing bars.

Recently, while traveling back from South Dakota, I had a Cherry Mash (old fashioned candy bar) from a gas station and it reminded me of the cherry bing bars I had when I was younger.

Instantly I knew what I was going to do with the bottle of Cherry Bakery Emulsion, from LorAnn Oils and Flavors, I had recently received.

I made the candy inside with the cherry flavoring, some powdered sugar and milk.

Then melted chocolate, added chopped peanuts and dipped the cherry centers in. Homemade cherry chocolate candies in no time.

common questions and helpful tips

  • Help! I can’t find the cherry emulsion extract!
    • No worries! You can purchase the one I used here on Amazon OR you can use Cherry Extract
      • Also, feel free to use any type of extract you’d like. You could make strawberry truffles with strawberry extract, raspberry truffles with raspberry extract or try peppermint extract for a delicious holiday twist!

If you love cherry, chocolate and a little bit of crunch and salt, then these Cherry Mash Truffles are for you!
